Suggested Melee attacks

Japheth, Asked us to post any attacks or dirty style fighting that the players would like to see to increase the repertoire IG. So this thread will be used for that.

Feint – A ruse intended to trick your opponent into committing to parry an attack that isn’t coming (suggesting: Attacker's Int+wpn skill vs Defender's Int+wpn skill).  If Aggressor wins the feint tricks opponent and the defender receives significant penalties on their next defence attempt offset by dex.

Dirty Fighting Unarmed Melee

eye gouge - temporarily blinds, requires one free hand
--- $0 jab|jabs &0's fingers at $1's eyes
--- $0 deftly pokes &0's fingers at $1, going for &1's eyes

groin kick - causes lots of pain for a brief period of time, but very little actual damage, requires standing and one free foot (I think this is the only one that made it in?)
--- $0 clumsily kicks at $1's groin
--- $0 hastily kicks out at $1's groin
--- $0 attempts to kick $1 right in the crotch
--- $0 lashes a foot out at $1's crotch
--- $0 attempts to crunch their foot into $1's groin
--- $0 gracefully kicks out at $1, attempting to plant a foot in &1's crotch

knee kick - causes lots of pain for affected leg, but very little actual damage, requires standing and one free foot
--- $0 lashes a foot out at the side of $1's knee

ear smack - lots of pain, dizzying
--- $0 attempts to smack $1 in the ear with the flat of &0's hand

blood smear - if you are bleeding, you attempt to smear blood in their eyes
--- $0 smears a hand in &0's own blood, flicking the fluid at $1's face

throat punch - temporarily prevents target from speaking, causes pain
--- $0 throws a quick punch directly at $1's throat

As a note, I probably wouldn't do throat punch since attacks can land on the throat anyway and do exactly what you described.

Why not? I can also make attacks the target specific bodyparts.

Just my opinion, but I'd bundle attacking specific bodyparts in with a 'strike location' feature or somesuch - every time I've seen someone land a throat punch it's been a severe+ (probably because there's no neck armor) and I feel like if there was a specific attack to attack someone's throat you could kill them by crushing their trachea pretty easily.

The way I'm trying to set these attacks up, you can customize whether or not you're more of a kung fu guy, boxer, or a brawler, or whatever by having a base style flag certain moves are grouped under. I'm also setting it up so that you can choose whether or not you kick, punch, etc. If you like those Ideas, maybe change the flags of the existing moves to what I've done below:


Key:
Basic: Your standard boxing/kick boxing maneuvers.
Aggressive: Your knees, elbows, and headbutts.
Exotic: Your martial artsy stuff.
Savage: Scratching, biting, clawing, gouging, acting like an animal.
Dirty: Going for the eyes, going for the balls, deliberately painful stuff.
Stun: Deliberately going for the head.
Risky: Things that can leave you unbalanced or flat on your ass.
Flashy: Impractical but cool looking.
Self-Damaging: Things with a decent chance of fucking you up if you try them.
Trip: Dex-based knockdowns.
Stagger: Strength-based knockdowns.
Bodyparts: Hands, feet, etc.
Speeds: Fast hits more often usually for less damage, slow hits less often usually for more damage.


If you want to use the above system, the existing moves need their flags changed to something similar to this:

Again, no idea about attack damage, but some of these, namely the face scratch, would probably work as an attack only someone with no brawling would do. In addition, some of these, face scratch again, might work as non clinch attacks as well. Balance how you like, I'm doing what I can.
